The Rendez-vous aux jardins event was held in Croatia for the fourth time, with the theme Gardens and Climate Change.

The Ministry of Culture and Media, in collaboration with the Conservation Departments in Varaždin and Trogir, prepared educational programs in Ivanec and Kaštel Lukšić.

IVANEC

The event Climate change in Ivanec city park, which took place on Friday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m., showcased the park's natural and cultural heritage to students from Ivanec's Ivan Kukuljević Sakcinski Elementary School. Special attention was paid to the effects of climate change on Ivanec city park, which resulted in the removal of some trees due to diseases and parasites, while healthy trees were damaged by a storm in 2017. The audience was also shown around the archeological site of the Old Town of Ivanec, which is located in the park. Employees from Varaždin’s Conservation Department led the children on an interesting walk, through which the children learned about the importance of preserving our planet in the face of climate change.

KAŠTEL LUKŠIĆ

The Vitturi Park – Meeting in a Garden program, organized by the Kaštela City Museum in collaboration with the Braća Radić High School from Kaštel Štafilić and the Conservation Department in Trogir, took place on June 3 at 10:00 a.m. in Vitturi Park. Students from Kaštel Štafilić's Braća Radić High School and other interested citizens attended lectures given by Mario Klaić of the Kaštela City Museum, who prepared an exhibition of old paintings, photographs, maps, and cadastral plans depicting the park, and Nikola Škarić of Kaštel Štafilić's Braća Radić High School, who gave a lecture titled “Inventory of plant species in Vitturi Park.” During these lectures, students learned about the park's history, natural and cultural-historical features, as well as the challenges of restoring and maintaining it in the face of climate change.

Since 2003, the French Ministry of Culture has organized the event on the first weekend of June, when various private and public gardens, parks, and promenades are open to the public throughout France, and since 2018, as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, it has been organized all across Europe.
